Lights. Camera. Lead. HISD spotlights Star Educator Scott Platt

Scott Platt was named principal of Love Elementary this year after completing his principal apprenticeship at Twain Elementary with HISD’s Principal Academy. This veteran teacher-turned-administrator is this week’s HISD Star Educator.

A seasoned educator with 20 years of classroom experience teaching in Texas and around the world, including in Mongolia, the Netherlands, and China, Platt has learned how to foster an environment of teamwork between teachers and administrators. This understanding helped him to leap headfirst into the classroom to lead by example and coach his staff toward success.

Platt is a native Houstonian with a bachelor’s degree in French and Fine Arts from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a master’s degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas. Platt began his career with HISD as a teacher at Briargrove Elementary and served as an assistant principal at T.H. Rogers School for four years before his apprenticeship.
