See to Succeed provides free eye care for HISD students

Every year, HISD community partner See to Succeed helps more than 4,000 HISD students receive eyecare and glasses at no cost.

See to Succeed is a vision program that addresses the critical need of sight and eyecare by providing free comprehensive eye exams and glasses to youth.

In partnership with the University of Houston and Prevent Blindness of Texas, See to Succeed works with HISD to help transport students to vision clinics in a field trip-style fashion.

On Dec. 1, 2022, The Houston Texans recognized University of Houston Eye Institute Professor Dr. Janet Garza with the “Campeon De La Comunidad Award” for her outstanding service and contributions towards nonprofit organizations such as Prevent the Blindness of Texas, the nation’s leading volunteer eye health and safety organization.

The Texans and its partners also made a generous donation of $20,000 to Dr. Garza and Prevent Blindness of Texas to help fund outreach to students at high risk of vision loss.
