One of HISD’s top cops is being recognized nationally for her exceptional leadership in law enforcement.

On Feb. 9, the Saint Elizabeth University Police Studies Institute hosted the Black History Month Excellence in Policing Award Ceremony in Morristown, New Jersey to recognize officers for their outstanding accomplishments.

Among the honorees was HISD Assistant Police Chief Lucretia Rogers.

“Being honored by Saint Elizabeth University was such a humbling experience,” said Rogers. “Law Enforcement can be such a thankless job, so you do the work because you genuinely care about the well-being of others. I’m committed to serving the community, but truly for me it is and will never be about the accolades.”

A College Station native, Rogers was sworn in as an HISD police officer in 2014 and has worked collaboratively with school leaders and their campuses to ensure safe learning environments for students and the Houston community.

After two years of service, Rogers was promoted to detective of the Criminal Investigation Division where she was tasked with leading criminal investigations involving children.
