Last week marked the conclusion of the “Your Voice” survey, the largest customer satisfaction survey in HISD history, and by Friday, May 31, more than 88,000 students, parents, teachers, campus administrators and community members had completed it.
Almost 3,500 parents took the survey online, answering questions about their perceptions of rigor, consistency and safety in HISD.
Currently, the average districtwide parent response rate is 11 percent, but this rate varies significantly from campus to campus. The districtwide response rate has already exceeded that of the first year of the Title I Parent Involvement survey (2008–2009; eight percent), and the number of parents surveyed as part of the 2011 community survey (305). Response rates for the Your Voice survey are expected to increase further due to the significant number of paper-based surveys still being processed.
Complete results are expected to be received by mid-July, but district administrators are already preparing for their release. Principals and other campus decision-makers will review sample reports, learn how to compare their results with other schools’, and receive training on a related online survey tool during the Summer Leadership Institute June 18–20.
HISD would like to extend its thanks to everyone who participated in the survey. Your feedback will help us to serve Houston’s children better.
