Yates High School’s boys basketball team will play for the state title again!
The team beat the Kennedale Wildcats, which had been undefeated, 86-79 in the 3A UIL semifinals in Austin on Thursday. Yates will play Dallas’ Madison High School in the finals on Saturday at 10 a.m.
This is familiar territory for the team. Yates competed for the state championship in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013. The program won back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
Before leaving for Austin, students gathered Wednesday to send off the team in style with a boisterous pep rally.
