The Houston Academy for International Studies scored big in the Houston Urban Debate League’s city tournament.
School officials said Jacob Martin and Christian Vences, as well as Javier Lopez and Zachary Duhon, were declared co-champions in varsity cross examination. They each received scholarships worth $2,500 and will represent Houston at the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues tournament.
Students Isis Cantu and Dante Garcia were declared city champs in the public forum competition and will participate in the National Forensic League tournament in June.
The school also had several students place in the junior cross examination competition.
