Helms Elementary threw a birthday party for one of its most dedicated employees on Monday – 84-year-old crossing guard Joy Wilson. She was presented with dozens of cards and flowers.
Wilson has served at the school for 40 years, and she has no plans to slow down.
“I will be crossing kids here as long as there are kids,” Wilson told KPRC Local 2.
Joy truly is a joy! She always has a smile and something positive to say, even on the hottest days. Her love for the children is evident. What a blessing she is to our community! The world is a better place for having her in it! :o)
WOW! Isn’t this wonderful!! She’s so courageous and persistence. She is tested and has come through it all. She deserves all that has been done to celebrate her and more!!! Congratulations JOY!!!
I worked at Helms for 15 years and rain or shine, Joy was always there, crossing kids and teachers. She is loved by the students and I hope she continues doing what she loves for many years to come!
