Supplier Diversity team walks M/WBEs through district bidding process

At this month’s Workshop Wednesday, HISD’s Business Assistance Supplier Diversity team discussed the ins and outs of the documentation and bidding process minority- and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBEs) need to know if they want to do business with the district.

Supplier Diversity team members Yesenia Taylor and Vanessa McGinnis presented the workshop and acknowledged that the process can seem intimidating, but that it is well worth the effort.

“We want to help you be successful,” Taylor said. “This can be a complicated process, but we are available to review your information, give feedback and answer your questions – just give us a call.”

The workshop was well attended by businesses representing a wide variety of products and services – from musical instruments and embroidery to security alarms and office furniture.

“HISD needs everything from diapers to diesel fuel,” McGinnis said. “We all benefit from having a diverse network of suppliers.”

M/WBE Documentation is a part of all Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Competitive Sealed Proposals (CSPs) put out by the district.
