The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo School Art Contest Committee judged nearly 600 pieces of HISD student artwork on Jan. 21 at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center. Several HISD students walked away with top recognitions for this year’s contest, including three for Best of Show and four Gold Medal Awards.

Recipients of the Best of Show award received a trophy, and Gold Medal winners received medals. All student artwork submitted in the contest took home ribbons.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program host competitions in approximately 90 public independent school districts and 40 private schools within 120 miles of the city of Houston. Each year, about 250,000 students in grades pre-K through 12 participate in the program, which showcases the culture, history and heritage of the West.
