Bond community meetings scheduled at five schools in May, June

Project updates planned for Jordan, Austin, Lamar, Kashmere high schools, Askew Elementary School

The Houston Independent School District has scheduled five community meetings over the next month to provide updates on the status of bond construction projects.

The meetings are part of the district’s commitment to keeping each community updated during the different stages of their bond project: planning, design, and construction.

Jordan, Austin, Kashmere, and Lamar high schools each will hold their second community meeting in May, while Askew Elementary School holds its third meeting in June.

Input from community meetings guides each school’s Project Advisory Team, made up of teachers, staff, administrators, students, and community members.

The five projects are part of the district’s voter-approved 2012 Bond Program, which calls for the renovation or rebuilding of 40 schools, including 29 high schools. Once complete, HISD will have the most modern portfolios of high schools in the country.
