Transportation Services receives influx of new requests for bus service

Transportation Services is temporarily halting the acceptance of route and stop change requests as the department works to process an abundance of new requests for bus service submitted after the start of the new school year.

This measure allows the department to focus on ensuring all new requests for service are processed and accompanying students are assigned to routes. Once that work is complete, the department will resume review of route and stop change requests.

Alternate Stop Request Forms — required when requesting a bus stop or route change — will not be accepted during this time. Additionally, the Alternate Stop Request Form option in the Let’s Talk! online communication platform is being temporarily disabled.

Alternative Stop Request Forms that already have been submitted will not be reviewed until all new requests for school bus service have been processed.

The team is working diligently to process all new requests and resume review of change requests as soon as possible.

Parents should continue to submit any new requests for student bus service at the school level. Once Transportation Services receives the request from the campus and determines the student is eligible for service, a route is identified, and the student is assigned to it. This process typically takes seven to 10 days.

Parents are encouraged to submit any questions or concerns via Let’s Talk!. Parents also can download the new SafeStop GPS bus-tracking app, which allows them to follow their student’s bus along its route.
