HISD honors Class of 2020 in virtual graduation ceremonies

The Houston Independent School held virtual graduation ceremonies on Sunday to celebrate the district’s 11,000-plus graduating seniors.

The virtual commencements were broadcast in partnership with Herff Jones and in collaboration with graduation technology partners StageClip and MarchingOrder. Each virtual ceremony included recorded messages from the superintendent and other district officials, as well as audio of each student’s name as their personalized slide was displayed.

After the virtual graduation links went live, many high schools, including Carnegie Vanguard and Sam Houston MSTC, hosted “drive-by” parades as a way for members of the school community to personally celebrate the Class of 2020.

The virtual graduation ceremonies can still be viewed online at Houstonisd.org/2020Grads. Each ceremony will be rebroadcast in their entirety daily through June 28 on HISD-TV (Comcast Channel 18 and Uverse Channel 99), as well as online via HoustonISD.org/LiveTV. You can find the schedule of recurring rebroadcasts at HoustonISD.org/GradSchedule.
