Annual ‘When I Grow Up’ career expo set for April 15

Dozens of exhibitors from local companies will be on hand to help students explore their options in high-demand, high-growth industries at the 11th annual “When I Grow Up” career expo.

The event will take place Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th Street, 77092). All HISD students in grades K-12 and their families are invited.

Participating businesses will provide hands-on displays, stimulating exhibits, and activities to engage and spark the imagination of students and motivate them to continue their education towards career and educational opportunities. Food trucks will also be on site.

Youth ages 16-24 will also be able to apply and interview on-the-spot for summer internships in various City of Houston departments through Mayor Sylvester Turner’s Hire Houston Youth Program. The internships run eight weeks in the summer and pay $10 per hour.
