Lee High School’s boys’ soccer team has advanced to the 4A UIL state soccer tournament for its first time.
Lee (19-4-1) will face the team from Pharr Valley View (25-2) in Georgetown, Texas, on Friday. If they win that game, they’ll advance to the finals and play the winner of the semifinal game between Northwest Nelson and Frisco Wakeland.
“We finished second in the district and have faced many challenges on the way to state,” coach Fidel Andrade said. “Persistence, hard work and being humble but hungry is what made us surpass all the obstacles this year.”
The school will hold a pep rally at 3:30 p.m. Thursday to send the team off in style.
Reflecting Lee’s diversity, the soccer team is comprised of students from many countries other than the U.S. including Vietnam, Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, Iraq, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Cuba.
Great job Lee boys!! With the Soccer World Cup coming up in Brazil you are truly wetting our appetite. Stay hungry and you will lift that Trophy. Thanks and good luck!!
