The Houston Independent School District has been selected as the winner of 10 2015 National School Public Relations Association’s (NSPRA) awards, including two Golden Achievement Awards.
The first Golden Achievement Award is for the 2015 HISD State of the Schools Communications Campaign, which included a dedicated website with videos of the speeches given at the luncheon, as well as the invitation, program, and other materials.
The second Golden Achievement Award is for the STAAR EOC Tutorial Communications Campaign, which informed parents and high school students about the self-paced online tutorials with fliers, FAQs, and instructions on how to access them (PDFs).
HISD also received an “Excellence” award for the EMERGE blog, EMERGing voices, and the Branding/Image Package for Service Excellence: Improving Lives, Building Trust.
The HISD Style Guide/Branding received a “Merit” award for Branding/Image Package; the story “The Cost of Insensitive School Mascots,” written by HISD Superintendent Terry Grier for the School Superintendent Association, won a “Merit” award for Excellence in Writing; and the district magnet publication, HISD School Match (PDF), won a “Merit” award for Special Purpose Publication.
HISD’s 2014 Annual Report and 2015 Calendar (PDF) received “Honorable Mention,” as did two other HISD publications – ReConnect (PDF) and the Arabic Immersion Magnet School brochure.
In May, HISD Superintendent Terry Grier won NSPRA’s 2015 Bob Grossman Leadership in School Communications Award for outstanding leadership in school public relations and communications. Read the details here.
