More than 200 experienced teachers from across the nation lined up Saturday to learn about HISD  job opportunities at an informational session and job fair Saturday at Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center.

Attendees met one-on-one with principals and staff, and learned about the overall vision and how their experience would help the district in Becoming Great All Over .

“Experienced teachers bring the right tools to help our kids succeed,” said Deborah Silber, Berry Elementary principal. “They know how to differentiate instruction and use data that will help our kids grow.”

No job offers were made just yet , but candidates left knowing what an HISD job would mean for them and how they could contribute to the success of all students:

•  “It’s definitely an innovative place.” – Erica Ba, special education teacher from Pasadena ISD
• “I know I’m going to make the move to HISD.  The presentation this morning changed my perspective about the district… I like hearing the words ‘support’ and ‘opportunities’ – you can’t get that anywhere else.”  – Linda from Fort Bend ISD
•  “I’ve been attracted to HISD because it’s such a positive culture.  I loved the principals and the professional development, and I want to get back in the district! I feel there is spirit of teamwork and accountability.” – Pamela Knoppers, former HISD teacher
