At HISD, parents and students have a multitude of education options. From Montessori and magnet programs to preschool programs and early college high schools, representatives from over 70 different HISD schools will be on-hand at the third annual HISD School Choice Fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 27, at the Hattie Mae White Education Support Center (4400 West 18th Street).
Schools that have space for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year will be available at the fair to answer questions and provide more detailed information about their campuses, answer questions about the application and student transfer process, and assist parents with making the best school choice for their children.
Information will be provided about HISD’s magnet schools, charter schools, early colleges, vanguard programs, preschool programs, multilingual programs and other specialty programs designed to meet the unique needs, talents and interests of every child. These schools are open to all potential students, including those who live outside HISD. Learn more about the district’s choices in schools below. A video in Spanish is further down the page.

“When it comes to your child’s education, the Houston Independent School District has an amazing array of schools and programming designed to meet your child’s needs, challenge their thinking, develop their skills and talents, but most importantly prepare them for success in college, their careers, and in life,” said Assistant Superintendent of School Choice Dave Wheat.
Two of the schools on display at the fair will be the district’s newest additions to its portfolio, the Baylor College of Medicine Academy at Ryan and The Energy Institute High School. Parents and students have until May 16 to apply for the new magnet schools that will feature a highly rigorous curriculum emphasizing science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
