Chavez High School is hosting a community car show to give students more opportunities in its motor sports engineering program.
The show will be held in the school’s teacher parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 28. Judging will be held at 1 p.m. The community is invited to enter their cars, imports, trucks and motorcycles for $25.
The motor sports engineering program is led by Greg Ditch, who is a former racer. The program allows students to put their math and science lessons to the test by engineering a competitive race car. The school has partnered with NASCAR driver Donnie Neuenberger, and two recent graduates spent their summer working with a world championship race team.
Tickets to see the show are $5, but if you have an HISD identification card you can get in for $2.
