Four HISD schools have scored big with the Houston Texans, winning NFL Play 60 grants from the team to supply campuses with playground or gym equipment that broadens physical education and afterschool programs.

Sutton ES, Garden Oaks ES, and Patrick Henry MS each won a $10,000 grant, with J.P. Henderson ES receiving $4,000. Representatives from each of the campus took to the field at Reliant Stadium at halftime during the Texans vs. the New England Patriots game December 1 for the presentation.

Schools had to submit a formal funding request of up to 500 words for details on how they would use grant funds and how many children would benefit.
