Twenty-five Haidian District educators from Beijing continued their visit to Houston and HISD as Lanier Middle School administrators introduced the delegation to the “Friendship State” of Texas on Jan. 26. Principal Felicia Adams opened the campus tour and program with an entertaining game in which the guests learned fun facts about Texas. Student artwork featuring pandas and Chinese messages and a chamber orchestra greeted the visitors.
The delegation toured the HISD Food Services main facility on Tuesday, January 27. They sampled products prepared for students, learned about free and reduced-price meals, and studied nutritional requirements.
The delegation will also visit Lamar High School, Westside High School, and River Oaks Elementary School this week as part of a two-week program sponsored by the Mayor’s office. Last week, the group attended a day-long program at the Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion Magnet School, which included a meeting with the school administration, a campus tour, and a presentation and discussion regarding the district’s involvement with the Confucius Institute.
