HISD’s Office of the Controller has won the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award for the 40th consecutive year.
The district received the award for the exemplary quality of its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The certificate is considered the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program,” noted the GFOA in its letter to the district, “including demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate users and user groups to read the CAFR.”
Chief Financial Officer Ken Huewitt accepted the award on behalf of the district.
