In honor of Veterans Day, some 450 students, teachers, and parents from Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion Magnet School (MCLIMS) performed at the “Celebrating Diversity & World Peace” at Minute Maid Park on Nov. 7, 2015. They were invited to sing at the event, which also included a host of other performers.
More than 40,000 attendees were on hand to hear the MCLIMS group sing “The More We Get Together” in both English and Chinese (当我们同在一起). The celebration also commemorated the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, as well as Houston’s diverse international cultures.
The event attracted ethnic groups from multiple backgrounds, including Jewish, Asian, Latino, and African. There were various musical and dance performances, as well as participation by governmental officials and members of the U.S. Armed Services.
