HISD to host Campus Hiring Event for critical shortage positions

The HISD Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team will host a 2024-2025 Critical Shortage Campus Hiring Event on Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 West 18th Street, 77092).

This event will feature both NES and non-NES campuses and is open to the following certified teacher position types: Bilingual, Pre-Kindergarten, and Special Education.

Key compensation highlights, for a teacher with five years of experience:

• Bilingual teacher salaries:
Non-NES schools: $66,000
NES schools: $81,000
• Special Education teacher salaries:
Non-NES schools: $83,000
NES schools: $92,000
• Pre-Kindergarten teacher salaries:
Non-NES Schools: $66,000
NES Schools: $76,000

By the 2025-2026 school year, HISD plans for the average teacher salary to be $75,000.

1. The HISD Transfer Period closed on April 26, 2024. Current district employees in Chapter 21 contract positions (e.g., teacher, counselor, librarian, etc.) are not eligible to attend this event.
