Dr. Diego Linares has been selected as the new principal of Sam Houston Math, Science, and Technology Center High School.
Linares began his career as a bilingual teacher in Alief ISD, where he also served as a high school assistant principal. He served as an elementary school principal in the Stafford Municipal School District, where he was named Principal of the Year. He then served as principal of Scarborough High School, where he led the school out of Improvement Required (IR) status by meeting TEA standards and receiving four distinctions, including mathematics and science. Most recently, he worked at Katy ISD as the principal of Raines High School, the Opportunity Awareness center, and the Behavior Transition Program.
Linares earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Santo Tomas in Bogota, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from University of Houston at Clear Lake, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from University of Houston.
