The HISD Police Department is in search of applicants to join their team of dedicated police officers.
The ideal candidate is committed to safety and crime awareness and prevention and will work proactively to ensure the safety of all HISD students and build positive relationships with members of the Houston community.
“Protecting and serving students, staff, and the community are critical components to school-based law enforcement,” said HISD Interim Chief of Police Shamara Garner. “Our goal at HISD PD is to recruit officers that support those critical components as well as our mission of ‘We protect, We serve, and We solve’. Our agency is the largest ISD and police department in the state of Texas with competitive salaries and benefits compared to other school districts and police agencies.”
The staring salary for an 11-month officer has increased to $54,000. A 12-month officer starting salary is $63,800. Each will have an annual increase through the 16th year in rank.
Additionally, officers who remain with HISD will receive a $1,000 bonus in September of the upcoming school year.
For the 2023-2024 school year, new hires will receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus ($1,000 once an official offer is made and accepted, and the remaining $1,000 after the new hire successfully completes their field training).
A virtual info session for candidates is scheduled for July 27. Details to come.
