Board Members Encourage Participation in Districtwide Survey

Parents, teachers and principals need to fill out ‘Your Voice’ survey by May 20

HISD Board President Anna Eastman and Board Trustee Manuel Rodriguez Jr. are encouraging HISD parents, teachers and principals to fill out and return the Your Voice customer satisfaction survey by May 20, 2013.  The survey is the largest of its kind in the history of the district and is being conducted by an outside party so all responses will remain confidential and anonymous.

During the monthly taping of her TV program, HISD Up Close, Eastman invited Rodriguez on the program to discuss the importance of the survey and to encourage all parents to take 10 to 15 minutes out of their day to fill it out.

“This survey is important not just for HISD, but for the entire city as well since Houston is one of the fastest growing cities in America,” said Rodriguez.

All parents of HISD children in grades 3-12 were given a hard copy of the survey with a self-addressed stamped return envelope to the RDA group, the independent company hired to create, distribute and compute the survey results. Parents who have children at different campus levels (elementary, middle and high) received a different survey for each child.

“This survey is going to be very informative to us board members as to what we are doing, how we are spending our budget and what initiatives we have throughout the district,” said Eastman.

Parents can also complete the questionnaire online at www.houstonisd.org/yourvoice. In order to complete online, parents will need the login id found on the paper survey or their student’s HISD identification number which can be found on their child’s report card.

Eastman and Rodriguez are also encouraging teachers and principals to fill out the survey and return by May 20. All students in grades 3-12 will take the survey during the school day from May 20-31.
