Dr. Alisa Zapata has been selected as the new principal of Westside High School.
Zapata has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at both Tinsley Elementary School and Stevenson Middle School. During her tenure at Stevenson Middle School, she focused on building a strong academic program and transitioned the school into a STEM magnet to provide more opportunities for the students. While there she and her team also earned the most distinctions possible in the first year of STAAR. Zapata has served in multiple leadership roles at the district level both in Socorro ISD and out of state. In May 2019, Zapata was part of the team in Socorro ISD that earned the 2019 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award under the Largest District category.
Zapata earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Houston and her doctoral degree from Texas A&M-Commerce.
