The Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) honored more than 50 HISD teachers at the 36th annual Teacher Awards for their outstanding service and dedication to their students.
Teachers were nominated by their principal or the districtwide HAABSE committee for reaching exceptional teaching achievements throughout the year.
“We have over 300 teacher honorees from the Greater Houston Area and surrounding cities that deserve to be recognized and celebrated for their phenomenal work within the classrooms,” said HAABSE President Julia Andrews. “Without teachers, there would not be any other professions, so it is important that we show our appreciation.”
The award ceremony was held Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Bayou Event Center and provided an opportunity for HAABSE and the Houston community to honor incredible teachers and raise scholarship funds for graduating seniors and current undergraduate students that plan to study the field of education.
