HISD hosting Hiring Event for non-NES campus positions

The HISD Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team will host a 2024-2025 Non-NES Campus Hiring Event on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Chávez High School (8501 Howard Drive, 77017).

K-12 educators are invited to learn about Team HISD and the life-changing, student-centered work underway.

Key compensation highlights:

• Starting teacher salary: $64,000
• Starting Special Education teacher salary: $80,000
• Bilingual stipend: $5,000

This event is open to the following position types: teacher, assistant principal, counselor, librarian/media specialist, nurse, office support, teacher assistant.

Eligibility requirement disclaimer:

External Applicants:

1. If you have not submitted an online application, please do so and complete the SSN number second step prior to arriving (received via e-mail after submission). Failure to do so before arriving will delay or prohibit a school from extending you an offer. Complete your application online at www.houstonisd.org/careers.

2. In the event a campus is ready to extend you an offer letter, please have a digital copy of your resume, and if readily available, a digital copy of your service records ready to share with hiring managers and Human Resources staff. Applicants can also upload all required documents prior to the event via the job application.

Internal HISD Applicants:

1. Current district employees in Chapter 21 contract positions (e.g., teacher, counselor, librarian/media specialist, etc.) are welcome to attend and network about potential non-NES HISD campus opportunities for the 2024-2025 school year prior to the transfer portal opening Monday, April 8. Additionally, Chapter 21 transfer eligible district employees do NOT need to apply in the HISD application system this year.

Once registered, candidates will receive final event details in a separate e-mail for the event after 3 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
