‘When I Grow Up’ career expo to be held April 23

Dozens of exhibitors from local companies will be on hand to help students explore their options in high-demand, high-growth industries at the tenth annual “When I Grow Up” career expo.

This year, the event returns to in-person and will take place Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th Street, 77092). All HISD students in grades K-12 and their parents are invited.

Participating businesses will provide hands-on displays, stimulating exhibits, and activities to engage and spark the imagination of students and motivate them to continue their education towards career and educational opportunities. Food trucks will also be on site.

Youth ages 16-24 will be able to apply and interview on-the-spot for various summer/seasonal jobs at companies who are partners with the Hire Houston Youth Initiative. The HHY initiative, which started in 2016, offers students a minimum of eight weeks of employment.
