HISD Police Department launches citizen reporting tool for increased safety and accountability

In an effort to further build trust with the community, the HISD Police Department is implementing a new way for the public to report incidents.  

The Axon Citizen for Communities portal is now active on the department’s web page. The new system allows HISD Police to receive video evidence captured by community members through a public submission form. The information provided by citizens will assist officers in solving crimes.

HISD police chief named to national task force to address student safety

The Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) have partnered to launch a task force centered on identifying models for collaboration between local police and urban school districts to address the safety of students in urban areas throughout the U.S.

Houston ISD Police Chief Pedro Lopez is among seven law enforcement leaders named to the IACP-CGCS Task Force.

HISD Police Department’s K-9 Bjorn has received donation of body armor

Houston ISD Police Department’s K-9 Bjorn has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.  K-9 Bjorn’s vest was embroidered with “In honor of Haley’s 21st Birthday.”
