Jasmine Giron named new principal of McReynolds Middle School

Jasmine Giron has been selected as the new principal of McReynolds Middle School. Giron has worked as an educator at HISD since 2009, where she started as an associate teacher at Kelso Elementary School serving first-grade bilingual students. From 2010 to 2014, she served as an IPC teacher, biology teacher, AP environmental science teacher, and lead biology teacher at Madison High School. In addition, she worked as a magnet coordinator at East Early College High School and Booker T. Washington High School. Most recently, she served as the dean of instruction at Milby High School. Giron earned her bachelor’s in Psychology: Pre-med from Texas Southern University and a master’s in Educational Leadership at Lamar University.

Sean McClish named new principal of The School at St. George Place

Sean McClish has been selected as the new principal of The School at St. George Place. McClish served as a teacher, department chair, and assistant principal at Byhalia High School in the Marshall County School District. In 2013, he began working at HISD, where he has served as an assistant principal and interim principal at Black Middle School. While at Black, McClish collaborated with teachers, parents, and administrators to transform the campus into one of the premier middle schools in HISD. He earned a bachelor’s in Biochemistry from University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Education Administration from Abilene Christian University.

Ana Aguilar named new principal of Robinson Elementary School

Ana Aguilar has been selected as the new principal of Robinson Elementary School. Aguilar began her educational career as a teacher at HISD, where she has served as a teacher development specialist and assistant principal at Lewis Elementary School. During her tenure at Lewis, she focused on providing instructional support in reading and writing that led to academic gains and supported the implementation of restorative discipline practices campus-wide. Aguilar holds a bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from University of St. Thomas, a master’s from Lamar University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from University of Houston.

Carrie Flores named new principal of Durham Elementary School

Carrie Flores has been selected as the new principal at Durham Elementary School. An alumni of HISD, Flores has served as a teacher, gifted and talented coordinator, as well as an assistant principal at Pilgrim Academy, where she was involved in the transformation of Pilgrim into a PK-8 campus. During her tenure, Pilgrim earned distinctions from the TEA and a recognition from Children at Risk. Flores earned her bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Houston and a master’s in Educational Administration from California State University-Bakersfield.

Cindy Tiet named new principal of Daily Elementary School

Cindy Tiet has been selected as the new principal of Daily Elementary School. With 22 years of experience, Tiet has served as a teacher, instructional coordinator, and dean of instruction at Barbara Bush Elementary School. During her tenure at Bush, the campus consistently earned an “A+” rating by Children at Risk and continues to increase academic achievement and progress in all areas. Tiet earned both her bachelor’s and master’s from Trinity University in San Antonio, where she was a recipient of the Murchison Scholarship in Education.

Zaira Gomez named new principal of Cornelius Elementary School

Zaira Gomez has been selected as the new principal of Cornelius Elementary School. Gomez is an alumni of HISD, where she attended Sunnyside Elementary School, Attucks Middle School and Worthing High School. Gomez has served as a clerk, teacher, literacy coach, and assistant principal. During her time at Cornelius, she worked with students, parents, teachers, and leaders to increase the academic performance of the school. She holds a bachelor’s in Psychology from University of Houston-Downtown, a master’s in Counseling from University of St. Thomas, and a principal certification from Lamar University.

Eva Campos named new principal of Browning Elementary School

Eva Campos has been selected as the new principal of Browning Elementary School. She has served as a teacher aide, bilingual teacher, district bilingual instructional supervisor, assistant principal, PEIMS manager, and teacher specialist at Benbrook Elementary School. Campos is a native Houstonian and a graduate from High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Most recently, she was awarded a “Two-Way Systemwide” and an International Baccalaureate grant to help bring resources to students at HISD. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of St. Thomas.

Mimi Lam named new principal of Whidby Elementary School

Mimi Lam has been selected as the new principal of Whidby Elementary School. She has served as a teacher, teacher specialist, and assistant principal at Cornelius Elementary School for 14 years. During her tenure at Cornelius, she provided instructional support to teachers and implemented a new writing plan that exposed scholars to new experiences that equipped them with the knowledge to be able to write freely. Lam received a bachelor’s in Journalism from University of Houston and a master’s in Educational Leadership from University of St. Thomas. 

Eileen Puente named new principal of Rucker Elementary School

Eileen Puente has been selected as the new principal of Rucker Elementary School. For the last 12 years, she has served as a teacher, reading interventionist, magnet coordinator and assistant principal. As an assistant principal at Patterson Elementary School, she led the campus to earn five TEA distinctions in 2017. Her recognitions include Teacher of the Year, ESL Teacher of the Year, and 2019 East Area Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year. Puente holds a bachelor’s in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin, master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Houston, and a master’s in Business Administration (MBAE) from University of St. Thomas.

Angel Wilson named new principal of Gregory-Lincoln Education Center

Angel Wilson has been selected as the new principal of Gregory-Lincoln Educational Center. Wilson joined HISD as a fifth-grade teacher at Codwell Elementary School where she was also named 2010 District Elementary Teacher of the Year. She has served in various campus support and leadership roles such as dean of instruction at Durkee Elementary School as well as an assistant principal at Thompson Elementary School and Lanier Middle School. In 2017, she was named principal of Cornelius Elementary School. Wilson holds a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and a master’s in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University. She is pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership from University of Texas at Austin.
