After a five-year hiatus, the HISD Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament will return Dec. 15-17, thanks to a $30,000 donation from Octopus Energy.
This is the 78th year for the boys tournament and the 35th for the girls.

Heads are in the clouds at Sterling HS in hopes for a State Championship
The Sterling Raiders, Region III 4A Regional Finals Champions
The Sterling Aviation High School Raiders boys basketball team is a contender for the first time in school history for the State 4A Championship title. The team will be playing the La Marque Cougars in the semifinals Friday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. in San Antonio’s Alamodome. The winner will play in the finals against either Dallas Madison or Bridgeport on Saturday. Continue reading
SWAC and HISD partnership provides opportunities for students
The fever of March Madness comes to Houston this week with the Southwestern Athletic Conference 2015 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament, and HISD students are in the middle of all the activity. While the university teams vie for the SWAC Championship, elementary students will participate in a basketball clinic, and high school students can gain points with universities at the SWAC College Expo.
