On Saturday, May 6, HISD held its second annual Pride Summit, a virtual event for LGBTQ+ students, parents and guardians, and allies to learn and connect in a supportive and safe environment.
Attendees signed up for participation in either middle school, high school, or parent sessions—with each session providing specially-curated resources.
Houston Independent School District will host its second annual Pride Summit for students grades 6-12 and their parents and caregivers on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Pride Summit is a virtual event which offers participants a unique opportunity to support LGBTQ+ students and cultivate relationships within the community through education and advocacy.
The summit will be held via Zoom to best accommodate participants throughout the district and ensure that everyone can attend the summit safely and privately.
For the first time, HISD’s Pride Committee participated in Houston’s annual LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration on June 25. The 44th annual event, organized by Houston Pride 365, was the first following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
