HISD principals accept tags for laptop cases for their schools from the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce purchased more than 9,000 luggage tags for five HISD high schools to add to the cases of laptops students are set to receive through the district’s PowerUp program, which will provide every high school student a laptop for use at school and home by 2016.

The schools presented with the tags on Thursday, Dec. 11 were: Davis, Reagan, Scarborough, Waltrip, and Washington high schools.

The chamber’s education committee worked with the principal of each school and business partners such as Houston Highway Credit Union, Members Trust of the Southwest Credit Union, PrimeWay Federal Credit Union, and an anonymous donor to purchase the tags for the schools.

More than 18,000 laptops will be distributed to students at 14 HISD highs schools, this coming January as part of PowerUp.
