Dr. Deshonta Everett has been selected as the new principal of Welch Middle School.
He has been in education for more 15 years and started his career as a middle school teacher in the Dallas Independent School District. He continued his career as an instructional coach and administrator in various North Texas school districts.
Everett joined HISD in 2017 where he served as dean of instruction at Welch Middle School for two years. In 2019, Everett was selected to serve as the principal of Anderson Elementary School. While at Anderson, he created an instructional culture of excellence and growth, increased parental involvement and engagement with the school, and improved student performance in reading and math.
Everett holds a bachelor’s in English from Jackson State University, a master’s in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, a second master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.
