In Houston Independent School District, teachers make a bigger difference in the lives of students.
For the 2023-2024 school year, HISD will be offering a $2,500 New Teacher Signing Incentive for all new classroom teachers.

To qualify for the incentive, new teachers must receive and accept an offer through HISD TRACS by June 30, 2023. This incentive will be paid out to new teachers in one lump sum in September 2023.

This incentive is only being distributed to classroom teachers who work directly with students. Media specialists, librarians, teacher specialists, nurses, counselors, and secondary Special Education chairs do not qualify. HISD typically offers additional critical shortage stipends for positions in high-needs areas.
