HISD welcomes aspiring teachers born outside of the U.S. to apply for alternative certification
As a global district in a global city, Houston Independent School District is well-positioned to welcome highly qualified aspiring immigrant teachers to work in areas of critical need. Candidates born outside of the U.S. who require visa sponsorship are invited to join the district’s Alternative Certification Program.
Houston ISD’s Alternative Certification Program is dedicated to recruiting college graduates from diverse educational and career backgrounds who are passionate about making a career change and making a bigger difference in the lives of students. The one-year program is free for candidates who commit to teach in HISD for two years.
