T.J. Cotter has been selected as the new principal of Fondren Middle School.
Cotter most recently served as the principal of Wesley Elementary School. He began his career in education as a reading and social studies teacher at HISD’s Gregory-Lincoln Education Center. He then served as an instructional specialist and assistant principal at Dowling Middle School (since re-named Audrey H. Lawson MS). In 2017, he transitioned to Woodson PK-8 Leadership Academy as the assistant principal, where he was involved in moving the campus from “improvement required” to meeting state accountability standards. He then served as the assistant principal at North Forest High School, moving the campus from Year 4 IR to meeting state accountability.
Cotter earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Southern University and his Master of Education in Administration and Policy Studies from the University of Houston. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education in Professional Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Houston.
