Though most students approach the end of the school year with excitement, some HISD middle schoolers had a different, very special reason to look forward to the end of May. HISD’s Dyad Travel program gave students at NES campuses the opportunity of a lifetime to jetset across the globe for a five-day journey to Tokyo, Japan. In keeping with the Dyad model put in place in NES schools, Dyad Travel aims to expose students to as many diverse experiences as possible.

Boy Scouts and HISD Dyad partnership honored at Houston Sports Breakfast
HISD’s Dyad classes are an innovative educational tool designed to expose students to unique skills taught by members of the community. The beauty of Dyad is its versatility and the one-of-a-kind opportunities it allows students to experience.
The Boy Scouts of America have stepped in to partner with HISD and bring Scouting to Shadydale Elementary School and Key Middle School in a special Dyad course called ScoutReach. These students and this partnership were lauded at the Houston Sports Breakfast on May 1 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Volunteers from Home Depot’s Team Depot and Nike Community Ambassadors came to Atherton Elementary and Key Middle School, respectively, to support Dyad classes in a school garden beautification project and a trainer-led field day.
