Video highlights design ideas for new Dowling Middle School

A new HISD video, which was recently presented to stakeholders, provides an overview on the status of the design process at Dowling Middle School.

“Dowling Middle School believes in parents as partners. We believe in valuing our stakeholders and their input,” said Dowling Principal Tynette Guinn. “Knowing that we are about to embark on 21st century learning with our new campus is very exciting for us, the parents, the students, and the community.”

Members of the Bellaire High School community gathered Thursday evening to learn about the status of the planning and design phase of the school’s new construction project.

As part of HISD’s 2012 bond program, a new Bellaire High School will be constructed that will provide students with a 21st century learning environment and incorporate the recently completed science classroom and laboratory wing.

With signs of construction already visible on campus, Grady Middle School community members gathered at the school on Wednesday evening to hear from the architect and contractor working on a new building addition. Stakeholders expressed enthusiasm for the project, which will complete a multi-phase master plan for the campus.

CFS employees recognized at appreciation breakfast

HISD Facilities and Operations employees received a warm welcome back to school on Friday, as they were treated to breakfast and special recognition by General Manager of Facility Services Brian Busby and HISD District 9 Trustee Wanda Adams.

Countdown to 2014-2015: What’s new in HISD #4 — Construction set to start on all Group 1 bond schools

This is the seventh in a series of stories counting down to the start of school, spotlighting what is new in HISD in the coming year.

As campuses head into the new school year, expect to see lots of work going on in HISD, with simultaneous work on two bond programs. Over the next several months, contractors will be busy at several campuses finishing up a variety of projects under the $805 million 2007 bond program, including new air conditioning, mechanical and electrical systems for Hogg Middle School and new classroom lighting at Pugh Elementary.

As those projects are completed, work on the $1.89 billion 2012 bond program is ramping up, with construction set to begin on all the schools in the first group of the program by the end of the year. Those schools include: Continue reading
