With a mission to bring new ideas and knowledge to the classroom, teachers from the Houston Independent School District participated in the third annual NASA-HISD Teacher Externship. On June 22 and 23, 14 teachers from HISD toured NASA facilities and completed professional development activities with NASA experts.

Changing careers and becoming a teacher is getting easier at Houston Independent School District. Candidates can apply now to become a teacher for HISD through the Alternative Certification Program. It is a one-year program dedicated to recruiting individuals from diverse educational and career backgrounds who are passionate about students, teaching, and learning.

HISD volunteers show their support for the LGBTQ+ community at Houston Pride

For the first time, HISD’s Pride Committee participated in Houston’s annual LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration on June 25. The 44th annual event, organized by Houston Pride 365, was the first following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
