Continue readingSafety will continue to lead the way as HISD prepares to welcome students and staff back on Monday, Jan. 3. As part of the district’s efforts to prioritize safety, HISD will continue to enforce its mask mandate at all district offices, facilities, campuses, and school buses.
To keep school and work communities safe upon everyone’s return, all students and staff are strongly encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 before returning to school or work on Jan. 3, regardless of vaccination status.
HISD has expanded partnerships with community leaders and health officials to provide additional COVID-19 testing and vaccination opportunities to the community in the following ways:
Please note that all classes will resume in-person, but all non-athletic field trips, including enrichment or curricular trips are suspended until further notice.
Starting January 2022, HISD will provide free COVID-19 testing to all consenting HISD students and staff on participating campuses. This testing program is offered in partnership with the Houston Health Department and Fulgent Genetics. It will be available to any HISD student and campus staff with a digital consent form on file.
Testing is completely voluntary and requires the student’s parent/guardian to first provide a one-time consent by completing a digital consent form available here. HISD students and campus staff 18 years or older may give consent by completing the form through the provided link.

Continue readingStudents from DeAnda Elementary School received books donated by the Houston Texans and nonprofit Books Between Kids. Each student was able to select six books to increase their home library at no cost.
Books Between Kids recently received a $25,000 Inspire Change Grant from the Texans, ConocoPhillips, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Miller Lite.
