HISD looking to hire Wraparound Resource Specialists

Houston Independent School District is recruiting wraparound resource specialists to help support students’ non-academic needs.

HISD Wraparound Services connects students and their families with community resources including school supplies, food, clothing, housing, computer access, and access to mental and physical health professionals. These non-instructional supports help address challenges that students face which ultimately impact their ability to learn.

Wraparound Services and the Talent Acquisition Department’s Support Staff Recruitment & Selection team will be hosting a virtual information session on Tuesday, April 4, from 5-6 p.m. for those interested in applying.

EMERGE applications open for HISD sophomores

Tenth graders in Houston Independent School District are encouraged to apply for EMERGE, a program that empowers and prepares high-performing students from underserved communities to attend and graduate from top colleges and universities across the nation that offer substantial financial-aid packages.

HISD sophomores who want to explore in-state and out-of-state college options and would like to work with a mentor to create a competitive college application can apply to be an EMERGE fellow now through May 15, 2023. The application can be found here.

HISD to be closed March 13–17 for Spring Break

All HISD campuses and offices will be closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 13, through Friday, March 17, 2023.

Schools and offices will reopen for normal business on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Employees should consult the duty schedules posted here.

The HISD Police Department will be patrolling district facilities all during the break. Emergencies may be reported by calling 713-892-7777.

Superintendent House delivers State of the Schools address focused on HISD’s next 100 years

Annual ‘When I Grow Up’ career expo set for April 15

Dozens of exhibitors from local companies will be on hand to help students explore their options in high-demand, high-growth industries at the 11th annual “When I Grow Up” career expo.

The event will take place Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th Street, 77092). All HISD students in grades K-12 and their families are invited.
