October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, but HISD’s Dyslexia Services Office works year-round to ensure students districtwide are set up for success.
Students will not have classes on Tuesday, October 4, for a Teacher Service Day. The district will observe a Fall Holiday on Wednesday, October 5, and all campuses and offices will be closed. Schools and offices will reopen for normal business on Thursday, October 6.
As we begin the 2022-2023 school year, all HISD parents and caregivers must complete the Student Annual Verification to ensure student information is accurate and up to date. The Student Annual Verification is now available on the HISD Connect Parent Portal and must be completed by Friday, October 28.

The Houston Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved adopting a $2.2 billion budget for the 2022-2023 school year that includes an average raise of 11% for teachers. That will bump the starting salary to $61,500.
