With this newly redesigned initiative, FACE will be supporting every school’s efforts to engage parents, families, and the greater Houston community and work to establish a culture of trust in order to achieve its goal of preparing students to succeed in college, career, and beyond.

HISD rolls out free drive-thru COVID-19 testing at select campuses in August
HISD is offering free drive-thru PCR COVID-19 testing on August 19, 20, and 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Testing will be available for HISD staff, students, and members of their households. The program is offered in partnership with the Houston Health Department and Fulgent Genetics.

The ratings are in, and the Houston Independent School District has made significant academic gains since the last time letter grades were given by the Texas Education Agency.
HISD earned a solid B+ from the TEA and maintained its overall 88 rating from 2019. The TEA did not give grades the last two academic years as school districts navigated the pandemic.

Houston Independent School District will continue its policy to operate the Community Eligibility Provision Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2022-2023 school year.
Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.
