In order to meet the commitment of permanently improving every D- and F-performing campus, HISD is transforming how it serves those students by launching the RISE transformation cohort beginning in School Year 2022-2023.

Waltrip HS Engineering Program recognized for high number of certifications

The engineering application company SOLIDWORKS recognized Waltrip High School for having one of the highest number of CSWA certifications in the state.

Representatives from SOLIDWORKS, Lab Resources, and Houston ISD’s Career and Technical Education Department visited the campus and its engineering students on Wednesday.

‘When I Grow Up’ career expo to be held April 23

Dozens of exhibitors from local companies will be on hand to help students explore their options in high-demand, high-growth industries at the tenth annual “When I Grow Up” career expo.

This year, the event returns to in-person and will take place Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th Street, 77092). All HISD students in grades K-12 and their parents are invited.

HISD celebrates Gifted and Talented Awareness Week, April 4-8

The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented has designated April 4-8 as Gifted and Talented Awareness Week to encourage support for gifted education in Texas.

HISD is celebrating by highlighting how the Gifted and Talented programs are benefiting some of the district’s more than 29,000 G/T students.
